How to get started with XPlica for SharePoint?

In order to migrate the contents from one SharePoint server to another SharePoint server using XPlica, please ensure the following before commencing the migration process:

1.   XPlica Server Agent for SharePoint 2007 - must be installed in the target SharePoint 2007 server (applicable for on-premise servers only). In order to create unavailable SharePoint objects like sites, lists, columns and content types the target SharePoint server must have the XPlica Server Agent that is shipped with XPlica application package.

2.   XPlica Server Agent for SharePoint 2007 - In order to migrate permissions from SharePoint 2007 to another environment, XPlica Server Agent must be installed in the source SharePoint 2007 server. In order to migrate permissions to SharePoint 2007 servers, XPlica Server Agent must be installed in the target SharePoint 2007 server as well.

3.   XPlica Server Agent must be installed in the source SharePoint server in order to assign site templates in the target SharePoint server.

4.   XPlica requires all the site / list templates to be available in the target SharePoint server prior to migration. In other words, XPlica will not create or migrate any unavailable site / list templates in the target SharePoint server.

XPlica simplifies the document / list item migration process by catering to different migration requirements of an organization under the following three task options:

A.    Migrates SharePoint site contents using the browse mode - Migrates site, lists, libraries and their contents to another SharePoint server by browsing the contents in an explorer like view. This task option is ideally suited for migration of libraries, lists, documents and list items with unique metadata to multiple lists in the same site collection.

B.    Migrates SharePoint site, list and library contents using batch file mode - Migrates sites, lists, libraries and their contents to another SharePoint server based on the entries in the batch descriptor file. This task option is ideally suited for migration of libraries, lists, documents and list items with unique metadata to multiple lists residing in different site collections and web application with ease.

C.    Migrate SharePoint objects using Quick Content Migration using batch file mode - Migrate SharePoint objects like site Collections, webs, Lists and Folders including all metadata values along with attachments with minimal customization. XPlica Server Agent MUST be installed in the source and target servers for this task option.
