Add New Exchange Server
You have to specify the Exchange server information for adding a New Exchange Server in ARKES - Traffic Reports.

Launch Connection Manager window.

Click Add () New Server button.

The New Exchange Server window will be displayed as shown below:

 
To Connect an Exchange Server

Select the Exchange version and authentication mode, to specify the Exchange Server information for connecting the Exchange Server and collecting the Message Logs.
  1. Exchange Version - Select the appropriate Exchange version of the target Exchange server to retrieve Message Logs.
  2. Connection option - Select the connection option like 'Use currently logged on user context' or 'Use different user context'.

  • Use currently logged on user context: You can use this option to use the currently logged on user account to retrieve data. This option is applicable for Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2003 only.
  • For Exchange 2007, the application additionally requires it to run in a computer that is member of the same domain (or its trusted domain) as the target Exchange Server 2007 and must have Exchange 2007 Management Tools installed in it.

Use different user context: You can use this option to enter a different user account to retrieve data.

    This option is applicable for Exchange 2013 / 2010 and Exchange 2003 only. For Exchange 2013 / 2010, the application always require an user credential with the necessary permissions to collect data to be provided.
Server parameters - This section details the input to be provided if 'Use different user context' is selected.
    Server Name: Specify the name of a valid Exchange Server (2013/2010/2003) in FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) format.
    • e.g., RD49.ADVENTURE.LOCAL (i.e., Host Name: RD49, Domain Name: ADVENTURE.LOCAL)
    User Name: Specify an user name which has necessary permissions to collect log data in DOMAIN\USER NAME format.
    • e.g., Adventure\Administrator.
    Password: Enter the password for the specified user.

The New Exchange Server window with server parameters will be displayed as shown below:




Click Connect button to connect to the Exchange Server and collect its data by using the Data Collector. ARKES - Traffic Reports will connect to the specified Exchange Server with the provided connection parameters and add it to the list, upon successful connection to it.

Click Close to abort the connection process of the Exchange Server in the New Exchange Server dialog.
